Charles was born 16 January 1917 in Richmond, Wayne, Indiana to Lantz A Newland and Minnie B Graham, he was the 6th out of 9 children the couple had.

At the age of 3 (abt 2 years 11 months) per the 1920 Census, the family was living in Richmond Indiana on 20th Street.

Ten years later at the age of 13 the family is now living in Flint Michigan

Sometime between 1930 and 1940 Charles meets Orcelia Jane Annis and they have their first child Bonnie. When I find the records (either from a relative or in my collection) I will upload them. Per the 1940 Census Charles is now 23 and living in Kansas city, Mo with Orcelia 24, their daughter Bonnie J 3. They are living with Orcelia's Mother Ernestine Annis. (Documents needed: Marriage certificate, Birth record for Bonnie)

In August 1940 Charles and Orcelia had their son Norman (my grandfather - I am looking for his birth record)

On October 16th 1940 Charles Registered for the draft (WW2)

On July 20 1943 at the age of 26 Charles enlisted in the Navy (the documents have been FOIA requested). He served for 28 months until November 18, 1945.

Sometime between 1940 and 1947 Charles and Orcelia divorce (no record found yet) because On April 16 1947 now in California, Charles marries Charlotte A Wilson

Not much else is known about Charles after the 1950's. He received the below letter from NASA for some unknown reason (I've reached out to NASA to get info) and he was a Mason.

Charles passed away the 4th of September 1989 (need the death Certificate) He is buried at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Los Angeles County, California.
