John was born on the 13th of December 1905 in Richmond, Wayne, Indiana. the oldest of 9 children born to Lantz and Minnie Newland. (No birth certificate has been located)
In 1910 at the age of 5, the family is living in Richmond Indiana.
In 1920 at the age of 15, the family is still in Richmond, Indiana.
On the 7th of June 1927 at the age of 21, John marries his first wife Lina Berniece Brockman. (looking for the marriage record)
A year later on the 27th of July 1928 their son Richard John Newland is born in Michigan.
In 1930 John, Berniece and their son Richard are living in Michigan with John's Parent's & family.
Just 3 years later on the 19th of December 1933 John and Berniece Divorce.
In 1940 John is now married to Beatrice Cates. (searching for record) They are now living in Los Angeles, California. John's younger brother Kenneth is listed as living with them. His son Richard is living in Michigan with his maternal grandparents.
On the 16th of October 1940 John registers for WW2
John enlisted in the Marine Corps on the 4th of May, 1942 at the age of 36 and served for about 28 months, he was released for duty on the 6th of September 1944 at the age of 38 (the file has been FOIA requested)
In 1950 John and Beatrice are now living in Michigan, he is listed as General Foreman at an auto plant.
Not much else is known about him till his death on the 25th of October 1986 in San Diego California. We do know from his headstone and the marker for Beatrice that he was a Freemason and she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
